Way out of the box

Kaeya Majmundar is an Emory junior who has launched two businesses that are landing her both acclaim and accounts -- one around development of a better packing box and another that offers custom photo rings. Majmundar also is a member of a new committee on student entrepreneurship at Emory, led by faculty members Andrea Hershatter (business) and Gray Crouse (biology). With participation by faculty, students, and staff from several schools and university offices -- including the Office of the Provost -- the committee is taking an inventory of current opportunities and obstacles for student entrepreneurs, compiling a wish list of aspirational goals, and planning a program that includes mentors, networking, and fundraising. A newly chartered student entrepreneurs' club already has drawn 200 members.
