Yolanda Cooper Promoted to Dean and University Librarian for Emory University

Yolanda Cooper

From the Provost's Desk

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Yolanda Cooper has been promoted to Dean and University Librarian for Emory University, effective July 1, 2019.

Yolanda joined Emory University as the University Librarian in 2014 after serving as acting dean and university librarian at the University of Miami Libraries. Yolanda's leadership and vision have been essential to advancing Emory's academic eminence. She has worked with library staff to strategically nurture scholarship and research, pathbreaking discovery, and curricular innovation; cultivate intersections between research, technology, and pedagogical experimentation; and increase connections between communities at Emory and beyond.

As Dean and University Librarian, Yolanda will continue to lead the Emory Libraries in facilitating the research and learning of faculty, students, and staff. As Dean, a reporting line to the Provost will be added as part of this promotion. She will maintain her leadership role within Libraries and Information Technology Services, and she will continue as a member of the Council of Deans, through which she provides invaluable insight and partnership both to me and to the academic leaders of Emory's nine schools and colleges.

I greatly value Dean Cooper's work and her commitment to Emory's academic mission. Please join me in congratulating her.

Dwight A. McBride, PhD
Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs
