Search Launches for Next Dean of Candler School of Theology
Dear Candler Community,
I am excited to announce the official launch of the search for the next dean of Emory’s Candler School of Theology, which we hope to conclude with the selection of a candidate by the end of the spring semester.
On the new search website, you will find the formal position description, a list of search advisory committee members, and information on how to submit a nomination or provide feedback. Please also look for an article in today’s Emory Report announcing the search to the broader community. I encourage you to share this information widely with others in your networks who may know of qualified candidates.
Over the past few weeks, Emory leaders and members of the Candler community—including many of you—have engaged in listening sessions hosted by our search firm, Spencer Stuart. Kimberly Jacob Arriola, dean of Laney School of Graduate Studies, vice provost for graduate affairs and search advisory committee chair, and Jonathan Strom, professor of church history, director of international initiatives in Candler School of Theology and committee co-chair, have shared with me your enthusiasm and invaluable insights regarding the future of Candler and its next leader. Additional sessions for Candler stakeholders are scheduled through the end of January. You are encouraged to continue sharing input or asking questions either during these sessions, through the search website, or by emailing CandlerDean@spencerstuart.com.
I am proud of this strong start to the search process, and I look forward to news of the committee’s progress in the coming months. I appreciate the commitment of the search advisory committee, Dean Arriola, Dr. Strom and Dean Jan Love as she supports Candler’s forward momentum.
Ravi V. Bellamkonda
Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs
