Keiko Price Carter to Lead Campus Life While Search for Permanent Leader Begins

Emory University will soon launch a national search for the next leader of Campus Life, Badia Ahad, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs, announced Nov. 5.

The search will formally launch later this fall following the formation of a search advisory committee comprising students, staff and campus stakeholders, and the engagement of a search firm to support the process. According to Ahad, the goal is to appoint a new, permanent leader for Emory Campus Life before July 1, 2026.

Keiko Price Carter, associate vice president of Campus Life and Clyde Partin Sr., Director of Athletics, will serve as the interim dean of Campus Life, effective Monday, Nov. 10, until a new leader is in place. Price Carter brings extensive leadership experience within the division and will continue in her role as athletic director while guiding Campus Life through the transition.

Heather Mugg, associate vice provost of undergraduate affairs, who has served as interim dean of student affairs since July 15, will return to her full-time position overseeing undergraduate academic initiatives within the Office of the Provost.

“I am grateful to Heather for her willingness to step in on short notice to support the Campus Life division and our students over the past few months through the busy back-to-school period, and I look forward to Keiko’s partnership as we search for a strong, student-centered and collaborative leader,” says Ahad.

Additional details regarding the search advisory committee and timeline will be shared in the coming weeks.
