Related Policy

The policies posted here concern aspects of collaborative agreements, credit hours, faculty credentials, and substantive changes.

All accredited institutions must make policies publicly available to students and the university community, in order to comply with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) federal requirement 4.3: Publication of Policies. On an ongoing basis, the university reports to SACSCOC and the federal government on the enforcement of policies and procedures publicly posted here.

Credit Hours

In order to comply with the federal requirement 4.9: Definition of Credit Hours, SACSCOC requires accredited institutions to have policies and procedures for determining the credit hours awarded for courses and programs. These policies and procedures must conform to commonly accepted practices in higher education and to SACSCOC minimum requirements.

Collaborative Agreements

Accredited institutions are responsible for notifying and providing SACSCOC with signed documentation governing all collaborative academic agreements. SACSCOC requires accredited institutions to assume responsibility for the integrity of the collaborative academic arrangements, the quality of credits recorded on their transcripts, and compliance with accreditation requirements.

Faculty Credentials

SACSCOC requires accredited institutions to employ qualified faculty members and verify faculty credentials prior to the start of each academic term. Accredited institutions are responsible for documenting the qualifications of its faculty which are reported to SACSCOC on an ongoing basis.

Substantive Changes

SACSCOC requires accredited institutions to have policies and procedures in place to notify the commission of significant modifications or expansion of the nature and scope of the institution.
